This sensor is Interlink model 406 FSR with a 38mm frame detection zone. This sensor measures the force. It does not detect where pressure is exerted on the square.

Force Sensor - FSRs are basically a resistor that changes the resistance value (in ohms Ω) depending on its applied pressure. These sensors are very low cost and easy to use, but an average value can be taken instead of a net value. With a deviation of 10%, you can get a range of values instead of a single result.
