Regardless of the interface used to communicate with the L3GD20H, the VIN pin must be connected to a 2.5 V to 5.5 V source and GND must be connected to 0 volts.     To use the L3GD20H in I²C mode, a minimum of two logic connections are required (default mode): SCL and SDA. These pins are connected to internal level changers that enable them to use them safely at voltages above 3.3 V; It must be connected to an I²C bus operating at the same logic level as the VIN. The remaining pins are not connected to the level shifts on the board and are not 5V tolerant, but the 4-channel bidirectional logic level shifter can be used externally with these pins to achieve the same effect.

    To use the L3GD20H in SPI mode, four logic connections are generally used: SPC, SDI, SDO, and CS. These must be connected to an SPI bus operating at the same logic level as the VIN. The SPI interface operates in 4-spindle mode by default, SDI and SDO are on separate pins, but can be configured to use 3-wire mode for SDO to share with SDI.

    Pin Descriptions


    VIN:This is the main power supply connection and must be supplied with power from 2.5 V to 5.5 V. SCL / SPC and SDA / SDI level sliders pull the I²C and SPI bus high bits to this level.

    GND:The ground (0 V) connection of your power supply. Your I²C or SPI control source must also share a common ground with this board.

    VDD:Regulated 3.3 V output. Approximately 150 mA is available to power external components. (If you want to bypass the internal regulator, you can use this pin as a 3.3 V input with VIN disconnected.)

    SCL / SPC:I²C / SPI clock line with level shift: HIGH VIN, LOW 0 V

    SDA / SDI:I²C data line with level shifting and SPI data line (also doubles SDO in 3-wire mode): HIGH VIN, LOW 0 V

    SDO SPI:Data line in 4-wire mode: HIGH VDD, LOW 0 V. I²C is also used as a 3.3V logic level input to set the slave address (see below). This pin level is unchanged and is not 5V tolerant.

    DRDY / INT2:Data ready indicator, 3.3V logic level output. HIGH (3.3 V) indicates that it can read angular velocity data. It can also be configured as a FIFO interrupt. This output is not level shifted.

    INT1:Programmable cutoff, 3.3V logic level output. This output is not level shifted.

    DEN:Data-activated trigger, 3.3V-logic level input. This input level is not shifted and is not 5V tolerant.
